We have had grooves milled into the inside of the tips, which both make it more difficult for the charcoal to slip off and minimize the points of contact with the small embers. The smaller contact points also mean that less heat is transferred than with full-surface contact. On the one hand, this means that the tongs heat up a little less, but also that the charcoal is cooled down less. In the handle area, we have created both a particularly good grip and protection against heat by using high-quality silicone.
